THAT GOOD BLACK DON'T CRACK

I've worked in the Cosmetic and Aesthetic field for the last 15 years. When the botox and filler trends starting taking over the mainstream in the early 2000's white women of all socio-economic classes were grasping for the magic wand of youth. Some were cashing in on there life savings and retirement plans for the opportunity to sign up for a chance at salvaging there faces from the wrath of mother nature. What I noticed then and am still noticing today is that African American women are the least likely to need or even buy into the Wam, Bam, thank you maam of Cosmetic Surgery for our faces.. I know we've somehow bought in to the new Jessica Rabbit look, where our behinds and boobs must be both perfectly rounded and over protruding. ( Thanks mom and Dad for blessing me with both) :). But honestly when it comes to no wrinkles, everlasting youth, and a tight jaw line. We've got it. Cisely Tyson is 91, Angela Bassett is 57 and Iman is 60. These ladies look absolutely fabulous. For this timeless beauty, we must thank our good old friend Melanin. Melanin is an effective absorber of light, Causing the pigmented skin to dissipate over 99.9% of UV radiation. Melanin is able to protect skin cells from UVB radiation damage. I still use a mild SPF generally about 25. Especially during the summer months just for added protection. We can still burn from the sun during prolonged exposure. So it's a really good idea. You can also find tinted sunscreens and spf is now added to most higher end foundations and primers. Unfortunately we still occasionally succumb to skin cancers and melanoma's like the unforgettable legend Mr. Bob Marley. Our culture has become wiser over the years because of the knowledge that his disease bought to our communities. At any rate.. Remember, your black is beautiful..

Do all lives really matter

Image result for harambe meme
Its Thursday, The weekend is almost here and I am ready for some serious R & R.  So, I'm sure you guys have heard this story all over the news this week. 17 year old Silver back lowland Gorilla Harambe at the Cincinnati Zoo was killed after a curious toddler fell from the railings and into the Gorillas habitat enclosure. I've read all of the articles and seen lots and lots of meme's poking fun at the situation. ( Some of which were very clever). So since everyone else in America is talking about it. I decided to weigh in on the topic myself. My thought is it's an all around horrible situation and experience. People have been blasting the mom of the toddler accusing her of neglect and endangerment by not paying close enough attention to the child. Animal activist have been having a field day asking why the animal could not have been euthanized as opposed to being killed. From the parental standpoint a toddler can be quite busy. Outdoor activities like, parks ,zoos and carnivals are probably the worst for keeping an eye out for energy filled little ones. According to this story mom had other children younger than the boy with her that were also demanding her attention. If that is in fact the case. I can definitely see how she was distracted for a second. (BUT NOT TO THE POINT WHERE YOUR CHILD JUST DIVES OVER THE RAILS) nope... C'mon. So now we have a huge dilemma.. Baby boy has just invaded Mr. Gorillas home.. And cries, sirens and screams ring out through the Cincinnati zoo. Everyone is in a state of panic. And so they should. At any given moment this very dangerous 400 pound gorilla could rip this poor baby from limb to limb. Not because he's mean or hateful or angry. But just because he's an animal. Hence the cage and bobbed wires he's kept in. No doubt, Harambe was an endangered species and there are very few of his kind left in the world. But to hear people try and out weigh the life of an innocent child versus an animal made me mortified. To think that anyone would or could for a second think that a innocent human life should not trump that of an animal is insanity. Sometimes in life you pass things off as accidental or coincidental and leave it to the world to evaluate and judge. But as I continued to hear the input of society on this matter. It all became really obvious. And I had to ask the question. If this child had been white, would America be as harsh about the decision to kill this animal? I dare not go in depth on my personal views or answer this question myself. Just know and remember. Trayvon Martin was shot down in the streets and knocked out of his shoes by a man "claiming" to simply be afraid of him. This animal was holding and dragging this toddler through the water by his legs. And the reaction of officials who made the decision to kill him are being questioned and ridiculed.. Sounds to me like it's becoming clearer and clearer that ONLY SOME LIVES MATTER!!! Not my opinion, just my observation.

HOW TV IS MAKING A MOCKERY OF LOVE

Image result for coupled

Just when I thought I had seen the last of the one night stand TV era with the ending of The Bachelor, I Love New York and who can forget the infamous Flavor of Love show. Here we go again.. I know there are many that may find this sort of show entertaining and may get grossly enthralled in its whole love triangle effect. I personally find this show as well as its sad priors. Disgusting. While it is indeed reality. Why must I see 5, 10 or 15 women on tv fawning over 1  man. Like, aren't there millions more, excuse the expression. (Looks for children)---( Ok, none present).. PENISES that they could go for. Last Tuesday as I was relaxing and flipping through my channels, I stumbled upon a new Fox 5 "reality" tv show COUPLED. Hosted by the ex 106 and Park co-host Terrence J. Who is playing match maker to a group of men by assisting them in choosing between groups of women.(SIDE EYE). On last weeks episode which I only watched for about 15 minutes was brutal. There was a handsome African American guy that had already apparently gone through the dating process of about 15 women. During this episode he had to choose 2 out of the 15 to continue on with. It appeared to me that he had sold one sister that was NOT one of the 2 a few dreams. Because when he announced his choices. This sister was broke down. Once again, television has found a way to demoralize love and values with this one. Thanks Fox 5. If anyone could do it we knew you could. I'm not sure about you guys but with all this trash tv. I'm starting to miss shows like Laverne and Shirley or even the silly yet completely comical Mork and Mindy. ( I'm telling my age now). Reality tv has given true, honest unadulterated love a bad name. Love isn't competitive, or flashy. Love is about two people coming together to bring out the best in one another as a union. Quietly, softly, with respect. But it seems that we are constantly making love out to be some sort of game, or laughable excursion. While it goes without saying "there are definitely plenty of fish in the sea". Love and its ups, downs, overs and outs. Should be a private affair.
Seriously guys if you get a chance take a moment to watch a little.. Let me know what you think. Until next time.
