I've worked in the Cosmetic and Aesthetic field for the last 15 years. When the botox and filler trends starting taking over the mainstream in the early 2000's white women of all socio-economic classes were grasping for the magic wand of youth. Some were cashing in on there life savings and retirement plans for the opportunity to sign up for a chance at salvaging there faces from the wrath of mother nature. What I noticed then and am still noticing today is that African American women are the least likely to need or even buy into the Wam, Bam, thank you maam of Cosmetic Surgery for our faces.. I know we've somehow bought in to the new Jessica Rabbit look, where our behinds and boobs must be both perfectly rounded and over protruding. ( Thanks mom and Dad for blessing me with both) :). But honestly when it comes to no wrinkles, everlasting youth, and a tight jaw line. We've got it. Cisely Tyson is 91, Angela Bassett is 57 and Iman is 60. These ladies look absolutely fabulous. For this timeless beauty, we must thank our good old friend Melanin. Melanin is an effective absorber of light, Causing the pigmented skin to dissipate over 99.9% of UV radiation. Melanin is able to protect skin cells from UVB radiation damage. I still use a mild SPF generally about 25. Especially during the summer months just for added protection. We can still burn from the sun during prolonged exposure. So it's a really good idea. You can also find tinted sunscreens and spf is now added to most higher end foundations and primers. Unfortunately we still occasionally succumb to skin cancers and melanoma's like the unforgettable legend Mr. Bob Marley. Our culture has become wiser over the years because of the knowledge that his disease bought to our communities. At any rate.. Remember, your black is beautiful..
Stay Blessed and Beautiful my loves...#Smooches
